Cross the bridge and circle a whole island: shoreline paths, rocky forest and sea views on every side.
Lauttasaari is a residential island just west of the centre, and its shoreline is almost entirely lined with paths. It is a favourite of local runners for exactly that reason.
From Ruoholahti the route crosses the Lauttasaari bridge and follows the north shore west to Katajaharju, then turns south along rocky, pine-covered coastline with views over the open sea before returning along the eastern side to the bridge.
The terrain is more varied than the city-centre routes, with short climbs, some gravel and forest sections. It feels far further from the city than it is.
Highlights
- Lauttasaari bridge views back to the city
- Rocky western shoreline
- Pine forest on the southern tip
- Beach cafés in summer
Practical notes
- Paths vary in quality; some short sections are on residential streets.
- Windy on the western shore.
Getting to the start
