Sightseeing on foot: Senate Square, Uspenski, the Esplanadi, Temppeliaukio and the Parliament.
A compact tour of central Helsinki for your first morning in town. Start at the steps of Helsinki Cathedral on Senate Square, run down to Uspenski Cathedral on its rock above the harbour and back along the Esplanadi.
The route continues west past Kamppi Chapel and into Töölö to Temppeliaukio, the church carved into the bedrock, before returning past the Parliament House, Oodi and the Central Station to finish through Kaisaniemi park.
Run it early on a weekend morning, when the streets are quiet, and you will see the city at its best.
